This weekend I was up at The House for an Art Lover in Glasgow delivering a masterclass in fabric sketchbook making. We spent the weekend stitching fabric sketchbooks surrounded by Fraser Taylor's large paintings and collages on the walls of the lovely Studio Pavillion. The space was bright, with a huge window onto the stunning gardens. The particpants made beautiful books, intially hand sewn calico books, then stiff cover vilene sketchbooks with printed cotton. Some of the fabric skecthbooks were to be used as reference books for dyeing and stitch samples, another was to be hand embroidered aritst book inspired by Celtic designs.
